On Wednesday morning, 19 January 2022, delegations of the KKE and KNE held a protest at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Athens, expressing their solidarity with the fighting people of the Central Asian country, which was recently shaken by mass demonstrations.
âWe denounce the bloody repression, the death toll, and the arrest of thousands of demonstratorsâ, stressed Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, MEP of the KKE.
He added that the delegations held a meeting with the counsellor in the Embassy of Kazakhstan and demanded the immediate release of the arrested demonstrators and all political prisoners as well as the meeting of the demands of the mobilizations, including demands for trade union freedoms. They also called for the cessation of political persecution, the lifting of the ban on the Communist Party of Kazakhstan, and the legalization of the action of the Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan.
âThis struggle will not end here. The KKE and KNE will militantly continue expressing their solidarity with the people of Kazakhstanâ, underscored Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos.
